Microsoft opens Pandora?s box on online services, betting convenience is the killer app

And what Microsoft must do, in addition to making the true cost-benefits analysis murky, is to absolutely win on packaging and convenience. And this is where Google is vulnerable. Google has still to show, aside from costs, how businesses of all sorts can adopt their services and approach in an easy to manage way, that packages things up neatly for the IT folks, and that make a transition from the hairball easy, convenient, and well-understood.

Tesla Looks to Expand Offerings to Include Mass-Market Sedan

Tesla_dealership_1_c

Tesla Motors seems to have scored a hit with its $100,000 electric roadster, but we're going to go ahead and say that the future of the electric car market does not reside with the six-figure automobile. After all, Matt Damon can only buy so many cars.

Enter Tesla's next project: A mass-market all-electric sedan that will sell for roughly $30K. It will join the Roadster and the upcoming $60,000 Whitestar sedan in Tesla?s lineup. The car remains in the planning stages, but to make it viable Tesla says it would produce 200,000 cars annually. This is a big jump from the 1,800 Roadsters and the 20,000 Whitestars it's planning to build each year.

Will Tesla be up to the technical challenge presented by building EVs at such a low cost? We look forward to finding out.
