Expanding On A Glance

The quick glance is the crutch of a strong poster printing campaign. This is the most important thing to consider and will be the deciding factor between whether or not you're successful or meet with bitter failure. The glance is the first thing a person is going to do in connection with your poster. As they walk by this is all you're initially going to get from them. This means that the first step is getting that glance to begin with. Strong visuals are usually the best way to get a person to glance over. If you make something interesting enough they'll see it out of the corner of their eye as they walk by, and that'll be enough to make them give your poster a full glance. Now that you have your glance you need to use it effectively. A standard glance is likely to last all of one or two seconds. That isn't a lot of time to work with so you need to make the most of it. The first thing to do is have a strong, to the point title. This can't be too long and it can't be too short. The longer a title is the longer it takes to take it all in, and you risk the person looking away before they bother to really read the whole title. If it's too short they won't know enough about the poster to care to look further. You need a good middle ground that's just long enough to deliver your message. Remember too that this message is going to be the central theme of your poster printing. This is the reason you made those posters, and this is the core of what you're trying to tell them. Now you've got them taking a little more time to look at your poster, which is where the sub header comes in, and what you're going to need to close the deal and make them stop to read the rest of your poster. The headline lays out the basic premise, while the sub headline is going to be a slightly longer sentence expanding on that to provide them with a few more details, and usually how this applies to them. This is the goal of the sub headline, to get them to understand that they want to know what else this poster can say to them. I'm not going to lie and tell you that this all is easy to do. Many posters are going to be ignored, and I've ignored plenty of them in my lifetime. A glance is a very short thing and it can be hard to truly capitalize on it. But one thing I can say: if you know what you're up against you'll be in a better position to succeed.
